S134: Antique 19th Century German Schmitthenner selfrighting chess set
Rare boxwood set with curved and weighted bases for 'selfrighting' , produced by the firm of L. S. Schmitthenner of Nuremburg.
Note glass eyes of knight and quality of turning throughout.
Nice patina, set in pretty good order, kings are 7.5cms tall - I think this is the mid size version of this set type.
